THE POWER OF WHY

I was on a call yesterday with my coach.

Yes, I have a coach –she’s part of my Success Team. I also have a Health Team, a Wealth Team and even a Fun Team J

I shared with her a goal that surfaced for me while I was attending a recent workshop. It’s a big totally audacious goal that seemingly materialized out of something I had scribbled in my notes. When I was called on to share my goal, the words just came tumbling out without my mind having time to tell me “DON’T SAY THAT!”

In that moment, I absolutely owned my goal. When someone asked me how I had come up with the numbers for my goal I realized I had not consciously thought about them…they appeared on the page right in front of me. I just needed to have “fresh eyes” to see the message and an open mind to 100% believe the words I spoke were possible.

My coach suggested I ask myself:

· WHY this goal is important to me?

· WHY do I want to achieve this goal?

And, keep asking WHY until I discovered the core desire driving that goal for me.

I use the same question with my clients. I absolutely value the opportunity to be encouraged to dig deep with my personal development work.

When asked “WHY” with fresh eyes, an open mind and willing heart, I create space for inspired dialogue, internal or external to occur. It prompts my Reticular Activating System (RAS) to fully engage in finding answers for me to consider.

I find “WHY” engages my heart/spirit to participate as a balance for my mind’s need to have a logical, measurable and specific response. My heart/spirit will instead provide me with the feeling I am wanting as the result of attaining my goal.

For now, I will continue to work on the assignment from my coach and I’ll keep you posted on my goal.

Wishing you all the best as you ask yourself WHY and if I can be of help please let me know.
