Do you have a favorite “zone out” movie?
It’s the movie, regardless of how many times you’ve seen it, your mind turns off the thinking, planning, worrying, ya-ya noise and is present in the moment with the characters.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a drama, science fiction, horror, romance, mystery or action adventure. Watching it brings you laughter, joy and exhilaration. It still startles you when the scary stuff happens, you can’t help but grimace and grit your teeth when the bad stuff goes down and there are still unexplained unexpected tears.
What movie does that for you? OK, there probably isn’t just one…like me you might have several.
I was recently missing baseball season. The Sandlot and Major League gave me just what I needed. The kid in me loves The Sandlot and my never-ever-give up advocate for the underdog laughs and cheers through Major League.
But, tonight I’ll watch Gone With The Wind. It reminds me of my sister. She died some years ago, she was only 46 and GWTW was her favorite. She was our Katy Scarlett O’Hara. I’m especially missing her today, because this is her birthday week. This evening, my mind will turn-off the ya-ya chatter as I watch Scarlett fill the screen…and my heart will be happy!
I hope you make time this week to watch a movie that enables you to turn off your mind-chatter and makes your heart happy.
